Physical Therapist New Bedford School
The salary range is to be determined.
Position Description: Provide individualized, group and consultation services
related to all aspects of student gross motor and mobility skills, utilizing a team-based,
multi-disciplinary approach.
Qualifications:
- MA Licensure as Physical Therapist
- Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy
- Experience with children with special needs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in multi-disciplinary team based
approach.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Supervisory experience.
- Able to meet required competency level in Microsoft Office Software.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent movement within classroom including but not limited to: kneeling, bending,
sitting, lifting, and positioning of students.
- Operation of adaptive and specialized equipment.
- Ability to use computer.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and conduct gross motor and mobility assessments as needed.
- Implement individualized strategies to promote motor development and mobility skills.
- Provide consultation services related to individual students.
- Participate as member of multi-disciplinary team in ensuring implementation of
individual gross motor and mobility strategies for all students.
- Supervise and monitor gross motor and mobility therapy goals implemented by physical
therapy assistants and aides.
- Participate in staff and team meetings.
- Participate in group and individual supervision.
- Participate in development of student progress reports as scheduled.
- Participate in development of Individual Education Plans.
- Provide orientation, training and ongoing supervision and support of physical therapy
assistants and aides.
- Communicate with parents as needed regarding student progress.
- Assist in outreach and program fundraising activities.
- Complete and maintain documentation as required by KDC and all applicable funding or
regulatory agencies.
- Participate in professional development activities and training necessary to enhance
skills and maintain certification.
- Ensure availability of appropriate adaptive and specialized equipment necessary for
mobility and motor skills assessment.
- Order and ensure maintenance of student specific equipment.
- Facilitate a collaborative relationship with other professionals regarding the design,
provision and maintenance of specialized equipment.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned
