Intensive Foster Care
Kennedy-Donovan Center provides Intensive Foster Care services through a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. Services and placements are throughout eastern Massachusetts.
Kennedy-Donovan Center believes that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment in which to thrive. The children in KDC's Foster Care program range from infants through eighteen years of age. Generally the children have medical needs, developmental disabilities, or a history of abuse and neglect.
For many, the goal is reunification with the biological parents. In that case, Kennedy-Donovan Center staff work with the foster parents, DSS, the biological parents, the child, and often times, other participating agencies towards that goal.
Kennedy-Donovan Center recruits potential foster care parents, provides them with appropriate training and information, on-going support and guidance in the form of weekly home visits.
Kennedy-Donovan Center works in partnership with other agencies, school departments, therapists, medical staff, to ensure that each child and the foster parents are served by a comprehensive treatment team.
Foster Care parents receive a stipend to provide a safe and nurturing environment and to provide for the child's expenses.
