"The best part of my job is being able to learn new things from the children and families we support. I am grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way and being able to learn new things."
Meet Brittany Saulenas, a KDC Caseworker for the Intensive Foster Care program. Brittany has worked in the social services field for over 5 years. We asked her to tell us about her experience working with KDC and the Foster Care team.

I remember a challenging moment when I was offered a school adjustment counselor position and I did not want to quit KDC. I wasn’t looking for a new job when this opportunity came to me. I had an internship there during my last semester of graduate school, and a couple months after completing my internship, I was offered a position to work there. It’s what I went to school for, and when the opportunity came up, I had to make the choice between the school and KDC. It was a very tough choice to make. Luckily, KDC offered a part-time position for me, so I ended up accepting the school adjustment counselor position. I’m grateful KDC supported my goals and helped make both jobs work!

I love working in this field and supporting children and families. I love seeing all the hard work and dedication our foster families put into providing a safe and nurturing home. I’m especially proud when children get to go to their forever home. It’s such a happy moment knowing they are going to a family who is committed to adopting them. The best part of my job is being able to learn new things from the children and families we support. I am grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way and being able to learn new things.
