Our Services
KDC offers critical developmental support, programming, and resources to individuals and families living in 150 communities throughout Massachusetts. All of our services are funded through partnerships with state agencies, including the Department of Developmental Services, Department of Children and Families, Department of Public Health, Department of Secondary Education, and MassHealth.

Services by Age

Ages 0-18
EARLY INTERVENTION (AGES 0-3)
- Family-centered support for children with developmental delays through parent education, resources and advocacy
- Team of licensed professionals and certified specialists support family goals
- Confidence and skill-building through child- and parent-focused groups
ADULT FOSTER CARE (AGES 16+)
- Supports individuals with medical needs/intellectual disabilities living with a family member or caregiver
- KDC case management of medications, health and home environment
- Provides ongoing training and provides caregiver stipend, room and board, per recipient needs
FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER (ACROSS LIFESPAN)
- Provides flexible, comprehensive services for individuals and family needs
- Helps to find local service options and promotes parent networking, mentoring and support
- Offers educational events/trainings on family topics and community social/recreational opportunities
EMERGENCY SHELTER (AGES 12-18)
- Provides immediate safe shelter to support youths in the foster care system
- Fully furnished home offers group housing for nights and weekends
- KDC staff provides comprehensive direct support for day-to-day needs
INTENSIVE FOSTER CARE (AGES 0-22)
- Provides specialized care for children and youth with a wide variety of medical and behavioral needs
- Foster parenting education & training to facilitate safe & nurturing foster homes
- Includes KDC case worker management, 24/7 on-call support & respite care based upon recipient needs
LIVES IN FORWARD TRANSITION-LIFT (AGES 16-22)
- Voluntary program for youth involved with the Department of Children & Families
- Develop independent living skills to support transition out of foster care homes
SUPPORT AND STABILIZATION (AGES 0-18)
- Strengths-based approach with the goal of keeping families intact & prevent children from entering foster care
- Individualized & flexible supports provided for families to meet their needs & reach goals
Ages 18 and up

- Supports individuals with medical needs/intellectual disabilities living with a family member or caregiver
- KDC case management of medications, health and home environment
- Provides ongoing training and provides caregiver stipend, room and board, per recipient needs
DAY HABILITATION (AGES 22+)
- Day program for adults with developmental disabilities
- Qualified and experienced team facilitates skill-building and community integration with 1:4 ratio in classrooms
- Nursing services for complex medical needs
Community Based Day Support
- Social skills development and coaching
- Community integration with adult peers
- Volunteer opportunities
- Well-being and self-help
FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER (ACROSS LIFESPAN)
- Provides flexible, comprehensive services for individuals and family needs
- Helps to find local service options and promotes parent networking, mentoring and support
- Offers educational events/trainings on family topics and community social/recreational opportunities
INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGES 22+)
- Empowers adults to live independently in the community
- Promotes growth through individual goal planning, skill-building and community connections
RESPITE SERVICES (AGES 18+)
- Short-term support for families of those with developmental disabilities
- Provides family members with breaks from daily routine for self-care, social/recreational outings, skill-building and life skills coaching
- Overnight supervision and on-call assistance for emergencies
SHARED LIVING (AGES 22+)
- Individualized arrangements to achieve match with non-family member caregivers
- Includes KDC case worker management, 24/7 on-call support and Respite Care based upon recipient needs
- Ongoing support and training for caregivers
INDEPENDENT LIVING (AGES 18-22)
- Transitional community housing program to support young adults transitioning from long-term foster care
- Independent living arrangements provided with support from day-time KDC staff
- Supports building life skills for employment, education, financial & household management
