Shared Living

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Kennedy-Donovan Center values placing individuals with disabilities in the least restrictive living environments possible. Our Shared Living program supports adults with developmental disabilities through highly individualized living arrangements in the homes of trained caregivers.

Serves adults ages 22 and older who are referred and funded by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Requires participants to live with a caregiver who is not a family member. Through thoughtful matching, customized supports, and dedicated caregivers, the individuals we serve can experience success every day.

OUR THOUGHTFUL APPROACH TO MATCHING

Kennedy-Donovan Center believes that a successful placement is based on finding the right fit. Both parties talk extensively with KDC about their lifestyle preferences and take part in several meetings to ensure that a well-informed
placement occurs.

TAX- FREE STIPEND

KDC Shared Living caregivers receive a tax-free stipend, which includes room and board and is based on the recipient’s needs.

COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT

KDC offers Shared Living caregivers a wide range of ongoing supports to help them care for individuals with medical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs: Case management, caregiver training, and professional support; Emergency support; and Respite care, based upon the care recipient’s needs.

TRAINING

Caregivers receive comprehensive initial and ongoing training to maintain a successful placement: CPR/First Aid Certification and Additional trainings depending upon the needs of the care recipient.

Adult Family Care

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Kennedy-Donovan Center values placing individuals with disabilities in the least restrictive living environments possible. Our Adult Family Care program supports individuals with medical needs or intellectual disabilities living in the
homes of family members or trained caregivers.

ADULT FAMILY CARE

Serves MassHealth or Medicaid-eligible individuals ages 16 and older who, because of medical and/or cognitive challenges, are unable to live independently Supports family members who provide care for a loved one and caregivers who host individuals with medical needs or intellectual disabilities, Provides each individual with a case manager to monitor medications, overall
health, and home environment through monthly home visits, Provides nursing oversight, as required or indicated. Through customized supports and dedicated caregivers, the individuals we serve experience success every day.

COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT

KDC offers a wide range of ongoing supports to its caregivers to help them care for individuals with medical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs:
Case management, caregiver training, and professional support; Emergency support; Respite care, based upon the care recipient’s needs; and Nursing oversight, as required or indicated.
